Sonora Cinematic introduce Emma Legato

New vocal library boasts true legato sampling

Sonora Cinematic Emma Legato true legato vocal sample library

Sonora Cinematic have announced the launch of a new true legato vocal library that marks the launch of a new budget-friendly instrument series. Developed in response to user feedback, Emma Legato is said to be a powerful and user-friendly tool and has been designed to create rich vocal textures and realistic melody lines for cinematic and ambient compositions.

Featuring Emma May Price, the same vocalist behind Sonora Cinematic’s acclaimed Aria Vocalscapes instrument, the library combines a selection of vocal samples with an innovative legato speed control function. It captures the classically trained vocalist performing three articulations: Humming, Poco Vibrato and Aahs, with true legato sampling meaning that all possible note transitions have been recorded, allowing users to play and program highly realistic and emotive performances.

A Speed control makes it possible to adjust the transition time between notes to match the user’s playing or programming — there’s an Auto mode that intelligently adapts the speed based on the intervals between notes, as well as the option of carrying out manual adjustments. As a result, fast and slow passages can be complemented by transitions that exhibit a natural and expressive feel, while a keyswitch makes it possible to toggle Auto mode on or off during playing.

The library comes loaded with a set of curated snapshots for quick auditioning of different sounds, and also features a pair of reverb options: Blue, which is described as a “shimmery, defused ambience with an expansive tail”, and Pink, which delivers a “slowly modulated reverb with granular-like processing”.

Emma Legato is the first product in the company’s new Sonora Cinematic Select series, a new range of no-frills, affordable, easy-to-use and incredible-sounding Kontakt Player libraries. More titles are expected to join the series throughout 2025.

Compatibility

Emma Legato runs in Native Instruments’ free Kontakt Player (or the full version of Kontakt) versions 8.1 or higher, which are supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 11 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, along with a standalone application.

Pricing & Availability

Emma Legato is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of £34.80, reduced from its full cost of £46.80, until 31 March 2025. Those who already own Aria Vocalscapes are eligible for a special ‘upgrade’ price of £27.60. Prices include VAT.
