Shure launch the MVX2U Gen 2

Ultra-compact interface gets an upgrade

Shure MVX2U Gen2 compact portable USB-C audio interface

Shure’s compact single-channel audio interface has just been given an overhaul that aims to make it even easier for streamers, podcasters and content creators to capture professional-sounding audio. Building on the capabilities of its predecessor, the MVX2U Gen 2 introduces improved onboard digital audio processing that can be controlled using the MOTIV desktop and mobile apps across iOS, Android and desktop devices.

At around the same size as your average XLR plug, the MVX2U Gen 2 is the lightest single-channel interface on the market, and has been designed to provide creators with a travel-ready interface that’s capable of delivering studio-quality sound. It can be attached directly to an XLR-equipped mic, and will provide up to 60dB of gain as well as delivering +48V phantom power, while a 3-5mm mini-jack output provides zero-latency monitoring. Both power and audio connectivity is provided via USB-C (a cable is included), allowing for a quick and simple setup.

What’s New?

  • Auto-Level Mode: Automatically sets gain for consistent recording.
  • Real-Time Denoiser: Reduces background noise in any environment.
  • Digital Popper Stopper: Minimises harsh plosive sounds.

The MVX2U Gen 2 automatically stores the last-used audio processing settings, and benefits from improvements to the noise floor, headphone amp and DAC.

Full integration with Shure’s range of MOTIV apps — including the MOTIV Mix Desktop App, MOTIV Audio App and MOTIV Video App — means that users are able to take control of the device’s DSP and customise their EQ, compression and limiting settings. Once configured, the settings remain active, mean that users can take advantage of the processing when using third-party recording applications.

“The MVX2U Gen 2 is the simplest way to record an XLR microphone on any device. Now you can connect your SM7B, SM58 or other favourite microphone directly to your phone and capture professional-level audio anywhere — at music festivals, conferences, on busy city streets, you name it. You don’t need to worry about audio levels, background noise or plosives because its next-generation processing handles that work for you. Whether it’s plugged directly into a microphone or used as an in-line connection, this compact interface is packed with features that elevate how creators capture audio across phones, tablets, and desktops. Just plug in your favourite microphone and start recording. It’s that easy.” - Eduardo Valdes, Associate Vice President of Global Marketing and Product Management, Shure
