Shure have announced the launch of a new compact stereo microphone that is capable of wirelessly streaming audio to a mobile device. Based on the company’s MV88 Digital Stereo Condenser Microphone and MV88+ Video Kit, the MoveMic 88+ has been designed to allow content creators and videographers to choose the best microphone placement without sacrificing the perfect shot.
Equipped with a pair of capsules, the mic offers a choice of stereo (with an adjustable 60° to 135° angle), mono cardioid, mono bi-directional or raw Mid-Side modes. Onboard DSP provides users with adjustable gain, compression, EQ and a high-pass filter, along with a left/right channel-swap function and some built-in noise-reduction processing, and a set of five presets — speech, singing, flat, acoustic and loud — provide a starting point for those who need to get up and running quickly. A 30-metre wireless operating range helps to ensure the best possible placement, and the device will run for up to eight hours on a single charge.
The MoveMic 88+ will happily attach to most popular tripods or mic stands using the two included 5/8-inch or cold shoe mic clips, as well as functioning as a handheld microphone. It can be paired directly with a mobile device via Shure’s MOTIV apps, but can also be purchased as a kit that includes the MoveMic Receiver, which provides USB-C or 3.5mm connections for compatibility with cameras, computers and mobile devices running third-party recording apps. Both the MoveMic 88+ and MoveMic Receiver feature a headphone output for monitoring purposes.

The MoveMic 88+ Receiver Kit — which includes the MoveMic Receiver in addition to a cold shoe mic clip, 5/8-inch mic clip, two USB-C charging cables and a 3.5mm coil cable — is priced at $449£439 including VAT / €519.
