PSPaudioware’s latest plug-in has just arrived, and offers the company’s take on the tilt EQ concept. Designed to apply broad strokes rather than surgical correction, Tilt-Q is said to be capable of adding clarity, depth and balance to a mix while helping to ‘glue’ tracks together.
High- and low-pass filters head up the signal chain, each of which feature a variable corner frequency and offer a choice of 6, 12 or 24 dB/octave slopes. The centre section of the plug-in houses its main controls, presenting users with Tilt and Contour dials that can be used to set the amount of tilt applied, and to adjust the shape of its curve; both controls feature a slider that can be used to set their centre frequency, and a choice of three Tilt/Contour characters. Detailed visual feedback is provided by a large analyser display that offers both bar and curve display modes.
Key Features
- Tilt Equaliser with Three Characteristics: Musical tilt EQ that offers three distinct curve shapes, allowing users to quickly rebalance low- and high-frequency content while choosing between classic, low-high focused or mid-centric behaviour.
- Contour (Loudness) Equaliser with Three Characteristics: a loudness-style EQ designed to enhance lows and highs while shaping the midrange, with three selectable response characteristics inspired by classic hardware loudness designs and soft-curve equalisers.
- High-Pass & Low-Pass Filters: Independent HPF and LPF with selectable 6, 12 or 24 dB/octave slopes for precise low- and high-frequency range control.
- Flexible Channel Processing: Apply processing to left, right, Mid, Side or full stereo signals — ideal for stereo imaging, mastering, and corrective EQ work.
- FAT Double Sampling: Automatic oversampling for lower sample rates (below 50kHz) ensures consistent, high-quality processing across all supported sample rates.
- 64-bit Double-Precision Processing: Ultra-high-accuracy internal processing minimises cumulative errors, preventing noise buildup and preserving natural filter behaviour.
- Second-Generation Output Saturation (SAT): Optional soft-saturation at the output stage adds smooth analogue-style drive while protecting against digital clipping.
- Integrated PSP Spector PSPEC-31 Analyser: Built-in 31-band spectrum analyser with bar or curve display modes, providing real-time visualisation before or after EQ processing.
- Intuitive, Console-Style Interface: Designed for fast, musical decisions with minimal controls — ideal for mixing, mastering and tone shaping without overthinking.
