Voxcraft is a new multi-effects plug-in that marks UJAM’s first foray into dedicated vocal processors, and brings together a range of tools designed to craft interesting, characterful vocal sounds. The effect takes the company’s usual no-fuss design approach, and promises to provide a fast and intuitive way to shape distinctive, production-ready vocal sounds.
UJAM say that rather than focusing on vocal repair or clean-up, they designed Voxcraft with creative processing and sound design in mind. It’s been built around a voice-shaping section that allows users to transform their vocals tracks using a range of tuning, formant shifting and voice multiplication, before passing it on to a collection of effects that have been optimised for vocal processing.
The chain includes dynamics and filtering tools, delay and reverb effects and tools designed to create rhythmic ‘chopping’, and is capable of transforming raw vocal recordings, samples or loops into expressive, mix-ready parts. The results range from vintage-inspired and lo-fi textures to distorted, chopped and futuristic vocal effects, all of which can be created without needing to stack multiple plug-ins.
