It’s been 20 years since New Zealand outfit Buzz Audio (www.buzzaudio.com) released their first product, and to celebrate, they’ve just announced the Series 20 QSP, a four-channel, Class-A mic and instrument preamp. The input stages use a proprietary BE41 Class-A amp, and these are coupled to Lundahl output transformers, which Buzz Audio say “produces a clean and open high end with a nice touch of bass warmth”.
Each channel has a -20dB pad, a switch for selecting between high and low input impedance, phantom power and a phase invert switch, and can supply up to 70dB of gain (maximum output level is a generous +26dBu). There are also four jack sockets, designed to accept high-impedance instrument signals, and a global power switch on the front panel. Available imminently, the Buzz Audio Series 20 QSP is set to sell for somewhere in the region of £1900.
