Amersham and Wycombe CollegeAmersham and Wycombe CollegePress Release: Amersham & Wycombe College has been successfully delivering levels 2 and 3 Music Technology & Music Performances courses for the past 15 years and this year is expanding its professional music provision.

The College recently introduced courses in Industry and Management and Creative Sound Design, and a further development is opening up the studios and facilities for short courses and professional skills development.  As a result, the College now offers Avid Pro Tools 101 and 110, Introduction to Ableton Live and an Introduction to Logic Pro.

The College has three Mac & PC training suites each with 20 workstations, two main recording studios and two project studios  all running Pro Tools and Pro Tools HD, Ableton Live and Logic Pro, as well as a live sound training venue, rehearsal facilities, and a fully equipped theatre.

In addition to investing in new technology, music tutors recognise the musical value of older kit and as a result, analogue equipment like ‘60s Studer machines, Moogs & Wurlitzers, share space with digital desks and Protools HD & Logic systems.

“We are constantly changing the way we deliver training to meet the needs of industry, building  relationships  with industry partners such as Avid, Focusrite, Novation, Pinewood and Wired Masters, says Chris Bunce, Level 3 Course Leader and Avid certified instructor.  “We run our own label ‘Sham Records’ and a major annual music festival known as ‘Shamstock’. Whether you are an industry professional looking to refresh or develop your skills or a student looking for a vocational pathway, we have a course to suit your needs,” adds Chris.

The College is now the largest provider of funded music courses in Herts, Beds and Bucks and as a Founder Member of The National Skills Academy (Creative and Cultural) students have unique opportunities to meet and network with top industry professionals, showcase their work at Academy events - such as the Hyde Park Olympic 2012 Stage - and experience the backstage set up for live music at major arenas.
