The Gus Dudgeon Foundation and JAMES 2014 Post Graduate Course

Led by music producer Romesh Dodangoda from 13th to 19th July

Romesh DodangodaThe Gus Dudgeon Foundation and JAMES have announced that their Post Graduate Summer Course will be taking place once again this month. The course involves spending a week at the Gus Dudgeon MCI Studio Suite based at The Atrium campus of University of South Wales in Cardiff. The course begins on the 13th July and runs until the 19th July. 10 students graduating from JAMES Accredited Music technology / production and sound courses around the UK will take part. They will all be actively engaged in the sessions as assistant engineers, using the vintage MCI JH500 series mixing desk (formerly owned by Gus Dudgeon), alongside a Pro Tools recording system. 

The Gus Dudgeon foundation are also delighted to announce that record producer and mixer Romesh Dodangoda will be leading this year’s summer course producing Welsh post-hardcore band Caesars Rome, who have been awarded XFM Radio’s Unsigned Artist of the Week accolade, and have had national Radio 1 play from Huw Stevens. .

Romesh has worked with many successful artists over the past 13 years. Specialising in Rock, Pop and Metal, his client list includes artists such as Motorhead, Funeral For A Friend, Twin Atlantic, Kids In Glass Houses, Bullet For My Valentine and many more.

This whole event is made possible by the sponsors who are also lending an impressive range of of gear for the lucky students to use. The sponsors are PMI Audio, who will be providing equipment from brands including Trident Audio Designs, Joemeek and Studio Projects; sE Electronics; Source Distribution who will be lending gear from API, Moog, Eventide and Universal Audio; along with Unity Audio who will be providing The Boulder MKII 3 way monitors for playback.

Student of the Week Prize
At the end of the course the producer will nominate a student who has contributed the most to the course during the week and has shown the most promise. This year the student of the week prize is this amazing package of kit donated by the following companies:

PMI Audio, who are giving away a Studio Projects CS1 Microphone, SPMS Mic Stand, SPC-203X Litz Mic Cable and the SPMPF metal Pop Filter; and Solid State Logic who are also providing a full set of SSL Plug-ins for the best student.
