IK Multimedia have released the iLoud MTM Immersive Bundle, a package containing 11 of their iLoud MTM monitors and an ARC MEMS measurement microphone. Supporting formats including Dolby Atmos, the bundle promises to provide an entry into the immersive audio world at an affordable price point.
Some recent developments have enhanced support for immersive formats. A firmware update has equipped the iLoud MTMs with a selectable 80Hz low-cut filter, and they are now included in the Dolby Audio Room Design Tool, an interactive tool for Microsoft Excel which allows user to input speaker layout dimensions and speaker positions to help design and model a Dolby Atmos Home Entertainment configuration to Dolby’s recommendations.
The compact size and weight of the monitors makes it possible to configure a multi-channel system even in smaller rooms, and threaded mounts on the underneath of the cabinet allow them to be mounted on standard microphone or boom stands for applications where ceiling mounting is not practical or possible. The manufacturer also say that the dispersion characteristics of the monitors make them ideal candidates for multi-channel applications.
The included measurement microphone allows the iLoud MTM’s built-in ARC self-calibration system to correct each individual speaker to ensure a precise and balanced sound from every position. iK Multimedia say that this results in a phase-coherent response across the useful frequency spectrum, delivering an unbelievably natural sound.
