IK Multimedia’s iLoud Micro system has built up a reputation for punching well above its weight, delivering impressive performance despite its tiny footprint. Now, the company have announced the release of the iLoud Micro Monitor Pro, which doubles its power, extends down to 42Hz and offers some built-in room calibration functionality.
The new system is still incredibly compact — each speaker weighs just 1.4kg and you can comfortably fit a pair in a backpack! There’s now 50W of amplification per speaker, allowing the monitors to achieve a maximum SPL of over 107dB, and the frequency response remains within ±2dB between 50Hz and 20kHz, dipping to -10dB at 42Hz and 22kHz. IK say that thanks to onboard DSP, the system is able to achieve near-perfect phase alignment and time coherence.
The iLoud Micro Monitor Pro also feature IK Multimedia’s ARC self-calibration system. Used in conjunction with the company’s ARC MEMS measurement microphone, the feature allows the system to automatically adjust its frequency response to suit the listening space, ensuring the most accurate possible response at the listening position. Yet more functionality is provided by the X-MONITOR desktop application, which provides complete control over each speakers parameters, as well as offering a range of voicing options that allow users to simulate other playback systems.
The monitors feature a built-in tilting stand for easy positioning, along with a 3/8-inch threaded insert that allow them to mounted on a microphone stand. Unlike many compact systems where one monitor handles the I/O and power with the second driven by a link cable, the iLoud Micro Monitor Pro sports independent connections, and so can be used to build a compact surround or immersive audio setup.
