Izotope Nectar 2 vocal processing suiteIzotope, the makers of RX3 audio restoration software and the Ozone mastering plug-in suite, have announced the next version of their vocal-processing plug-in, Nectar. The new Nectar 2 plug-in combines the original 11 processors, including automatic pitch correction, EQ, de-esser, breath control and saturation, with seven new effects. Among these are a harmoniser that automatically generates harmonies in the key you’re working in, and allows you to play in custom harmonies with your MIDI controller. There is a new reverb model of the famous EMT 140 stereo plate reverb, plus other creative effects such as distortion and modulation.
Even with so many processors rolled into one, Nectar shouldn't be daunting for production newcomers, and has a library of over 150 presets, organised by genre and style. These should help get the vocal sound in the right ball-park before further alterations are made.
Nectar's interface allows the effects chain to be rearranged so EQ, for example, can be placed before or after the compressor.
Nectar 2 Production Suite, featuring the dedicated Pitch Editor and Breath Control plug-ins, will be available for $219 until October 30, 2013. After this time, pricing will increase to the regular $299 / €185, while Nectar 2 pricing will be $229. Both versions are available in 64-bit AAX, RTAS/AudioSuite, VST, VST 3, and Audio Unit formats.
Keep an eye out for a forthcoming video demo of Nectar 2 shot at the AES Convention in New York.
