KSD Studio Monitors have announced the launch of a new 2.5-way coaxial monitor that features the same FPGA-based processing employed by the company’s larger offerings. The C55 Reference Monitor has been designed to work equally well across a wide range of listening distances, and comes loaded with custom-made drivers that promise to deliver a precise, musical sound.
As with all models in the KSD line-up, the C55 Reference Monitors employ the company’s patented phase-linear FIRTEC filters, which deliver ultra-low latency figures along with phase-aligned feedback. Their coaxial design means that the monitors behave as a point source, and they can be positioned in either landscape or portrait orientations while maintaining accurate performance.
Power is delivered by a built-in 350W PWM amplifier, with the custom drivers designed to reduce distortion and retain the monitor’s neutral reproduction even at higher playback volumes. KSD say that the C55 is ideal for use as a nearfield monitor for tracking and mixing duties, and also offer a great solution for multi-channel immersive rigs thanks to integrated, industry-standard mounting points.
