Lindell Audio launch ChannelX plug-ins

500-series modules come to your DAW

Lindell Audio, makers of such units as the 17XS MkII FET compressor/limiter (http://sosm.ag/sep13lindell) have released their first set of plug-ins. Aiming to bring some of the unique features of the company’s popular 500-series modules (which we reviewed in October 2013) into the software domain, the three new plug-ins are available in RTAS, AAX, VST and AU formats, supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit processing.

Modelled after the company's modules of the same name, the 6X-500 plug-in is a recreation on the preamp and mini Pultec-style EQ. It has a two-band EQ offering high and low boost controls and adds a stereo mode and high- and low-pass filters with six slope settings ranging from 6 to 36dB per octave. The 7X-500 plug-in is an 1176-style FET compressor with some interesting features, including a dry/wet mix knob and a switchable high-pass filter in the side-chain. The plug-in once again expands on the original hardware, with additional attack and release controls and a stereo link mode. Finally, the PEX-500 is a Pultec-style passive EQ with low and high boost and cut controls. This time, the plug-in version adds a variable input pad, increased range in the high frequency band and a choice of Mid/Sides processing modes.

Lindell’s trio of plug-ins are available now and cost £59$99 each. They are also available in the Channel X bundle, which includes all three individual plug-ins plus a fourth channel strip plug-in incorporating all three. It costs £149$249.
