Modartt announce clavinet model

Modartt, the software developers behind the innovative piano-modelling plug-in Pianoteq, have announced a new clavinet model, the CL1. Based on the famous D6 clavinet, Modartt say that, while they’ve aimed to capture the sound of the original faithfully, they’ve also extended the capabilities of the model beyond what the D6 was capable of. These additions include a sustain-pedal function, a wider pitch range (from C0 to D6, where the original went from F0 to E5), a variable mute bar and a continuously adjustable pickup mix (on the D6, you could only select between one pickup and the other).

Due to the modelling nature of the plug-in, its sound can be tweaked to a much greater extent than if it was sample-based, and the CL1’s sound-shaping parameters include hammer hardness, overtone content and resonance. The model also includes a built-in wah-wah emulator and a selection of EQ presets.

A demo of the CL1 is included in the latest version of the Pianoteq plug-in, and this can be unlocked for 49 Euros.
