The latest audio-based App to become available on the Apple Vision Pro comes from Neumann, and offers a way for users to take control of Logic Pro’s immersive audio capabilities in an augmented reality environment.
VIS, or Virtual Immersive Studio, aims to offer an alternative to 2D interfaces when creating spatial audio mixes and content, and instead allows users to see, touch and move sources in a three-dimensional space. Audio objects appear as visual elements, and can be moved around the virtual space naturally with hand gestures. Neumann say that the approach makes writing automation more like a performance, while mixing turns into a creative, immersive experience.
The App connects to Logic Pro running on a Mac, and appears as a device within the DAW. Once paired with the Apple Vision Pro, users can view Logic Pro on a virtual screen inside their headset, resize it, and place it anywhere in their environment. And thanks to Apple Vision Pro’s low-latency pass-through technology, it’s possible for users to still interact with their physical equipment while remaining immersed in the virtual mixing space.
Both speaker and headphone monitoring is supported, with the latter powered by RIME, Neumann’s proprietary plug-in that allows for spatial audio playback over headphones in formats up to 7.1.4. RIME also employs the Apple Vision Pro’s advanced head-tracking features in order to deliver an “exceptionally realistic” monitoring experience, making immersive production possible in any setting, from professional studios to remote locations.

Compatibility
VIS requires an Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 26 or newer, a Mac with macOS 26 or above, and Logic Pro 11.2 or later. The devices must all be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
