Nomad Factory have released an updated version of Analog Mastering Tools, a suite of three plug-ins that emulate the character of valve-based equipment and promise to set a new standard in mixing and mastering software.
The first of the three processors, AMT Amp Leveling, provides users with a simple and intuitive limiter designed to achieve high volume levels while avoiding distortion. It features a look-ahead function and a Recovery Time parameter that offers control over its release time, while automatic level adjustment increases the output level relative to the input signal — there’s also an Out Ceiling control that makes it possible to define a sensible maximum output level.
Next up is AMT Max Warm, which combines a look-ahead limiter and a two-band EQ section, and focuses on delivering a more obviously saturated sound. The Input Gain, Recovery Time and Out Ceiling found on AMT Amp Leveling are present, and are joined by a Limit Mode selector and a pair of switchable peak/shelf low- and high-frequency EQ bands that feature ±12dB of gain and a range of switchable frequency options.
Finally, AMT Multi-Max delivers a three-band peak limiter and level maximiser that is said to deliver high levels while retaining a clear and natural sound. Input Gain, Recovery Time, Limit Mode and Out Ceiling controls are joined by low and high crossover parameters, and a dedicated Gain control for each band.
