Origin Effects have announced the launch of a free set of speaker impulse responses that complement their range of Amp Recreation pedals. Simple named Origin Effects IR Cab Library, the collection includes captures of six cabinets and combos that were used in the development of the pedal series.
The company say that having spent so much effort into recreating the sound of the amps’ circuitry, they felt that it was time to provide users with the “missing piece of the super-realistic puzzle”. The library includes captures of vintage Marshall, Fender and Vox cabs designed to pair with the RevivalDRIVE, a Fender Brown deluxe 1x12 that matches the DELUXE61, and a Magnatone Troubadour designed for use with the MAGMA57. There’s also a Vintage 30-loaded Bogner 4x12 intended to provide RD Compact Hot Rod pedal users with a range of heavier modern tones.
Each cabinet is provided in bright, medium and dark multi-mic mix versions with the hope of removing some of the ‘option paralysis’ that can come with navigating massive impulse response packs. Those who like to tweak haven’t been left out, though, as the individual mics from each mix are also included. The library’s manual provides sample settings for each Amp Recreation pedal, making it quick and easy for users to dial in the tones that Origin Effects had in mind when designing their range of pedals.
Although the company have created the library with their own range of pedals in mind, they’ve supplied the impulse response files in multiple formats, and lengths of 200ms, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of software and hardware IR platforms from other manufacturers.
