Simple and intuitive limiter plug-in

Sonible Pure:Limit AI powered limiter plug-in VST3 AU AAX

The latest plug-in from Austrian developers Sonible aims to provide users with a quick and simple way to apply limiting to their source material, whilst removing the complication of adjusting multiple parameters. Aimed at creators who wish to add the finishing touches to their material without the need to delve into complex settings, pure:limit instead offers a simple interface with a range of selectable AI-powered limiter profiles that are categorised by musical genre.

The plug-in’s simple GUI features a drop-down menu joined by a pair of Style and Inflate parameters. The menu allows users to choose a profile which best suits their source material, with Universal and Speech options joined by a range of musical genres, whilst the Style parameter offers control over how much limiting is applied, with modes such as Hard, Neutral, and Soft on offer. Sonible don’t state exactly what sort of processing is applied by the Inflate control, although they say its purpose is to provide the option of a “richer, more vibrant sound”.

The rest of the plug-in’s processing and parameter adjustment is then taken care of automatically behind the scenes, with visual feedback on the amount of limiting being applied provided by a central graphical display and circular meter.

We’ve been impressed with company’s previous offerings here at SOS, for more information on some of the other processors in their range you can check out our in-depth reviews of their frei:raum intelligent equaliser, and smart:comp 2 compressor plug-ins.
