Shy Audio release 90s Dynamix plug-in

90s-inspired compressor/gate/limiter announced

Shy Audio 90s Dynamix compressor gate limiter plug-in

Shy Audio launched in 2024 with their debut product, Shy 90s Channel, an homage to the budget gear that helped to define the sound of 1990s electronic music. They’ve just announced the launch of its follow-up, Dynamix, and this time, the focus is on dynamic processing.

The company say that they develop their plug-ins with the aim of bringing the feeling of a hardware-based bedroom studio to modern DAW users. This latest offering has been inspired by the budget rack units that electronic music producers to introduce some groove and attitude to their loops, something which was often achieved by pushing the kit far harder than its designers intended!

Dynamix promises to excel at everything from adding some subtle ‘glue’ to a drum bus or full mix to applying heavy-handed compression that ventures into French house territory. It’s been built around a multi-envelope engine that is said to respond to the input signal in a musical way, and delivers snappy, flowing compression, particularly with lower threshold values. It also features a gate section capable of creating rhythmic chopping effects, and a limiter with fixed, ultra-fast attack and release times.

Compatibility

90s Dynamix is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
