Sound Particles have announced the launch of a new effects plug-in that promises to make designing delay effects quicker and easier, while delivering better results. Powered by the company’s powerful 3D audio engine, inDelay includes a number of features never before seen in a delay plug-in, and supports a range of surround and immersive output formats that include Ambisonics, Sony 360 and Dolby Atmos.
The engine powering inDelay makes it possible to create up to 100 delay taps and position them anywhere using an intuitive visualiser display. The taps can be static, or set to follow a range of patterns that include rotations, random movements and more, as well as having their input source(s) assigned on a per-tap basis to allow for the creation of detailed, complex effects. A Soundscape control makes it possible to quickly create immersive sound effects, while a Craziness parameter allows the plug-in to create lush, reverb-like atmospheres.
All of the settings you’d expect to see in a delay plug-in such as Time, Gain and Feedback controls are still present, and it’s possible to change multiple parameters simultaneously using a Time Editor display that boasts an intuitive visual interface. Sound Particles have also included an Air Simulation feature, which makes it possible to emulate the effect of air absorption and manipulate the perceived depth and distance of each delay particle. A collection of factory presets are provided, and if you’re stuck for ideas, there’s also a button that will generate random settings with a single click.
Over 30 input and output formats are supported, with good old mono and stereo joined by an array of surround and immersive options that include up to sixth-order Ambisonics and channel layouts up to 11.1.8.
Compatibility
inDelay is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
inDelay is available now, and is priced at $148.99£115.43 for the duration of the company’s July Sale, reduced from its full cost of $199£154.17. Prices include VAT. A 30-day trial version is available for those who’d like to try the plug-in out for themselves.
