Professional audio, lighting and video equipment retailer and distributor Sound Productions (SoundPro) are celebrating their 50th year in business, and are planning to host an event for their team members, customers and vendor partners in Fall 2023.
The company was founded in 1973 Charles Kitch, who was working in a music store that was contacted by Elvis Presley’s tour manager with a request to rent backline equipment for a show in Dallas. Kitch pulled together the necessary kit for the gig, which turned into a 30-day tour with Elvis, and in turn resulted in a series of requests for equipment rental and technical support from some of the biggest names in Rock & Roll.
The company continued to grow over the coming decades, eventually expanding its services into the fabrication of custom electronic and speaker systems for touring bands, as well as providing installation services. With bands and production companies now interested in buying the systems they rented, the company began moving into sales and repairs, and by 1985 the focus had shifted completely to sales and distribution.
In 2012, SoundPro moved to a new location in Irving, Texas, with a second office in Madison, Wisconsin opening its doors in 2020. Today, the company continues to provide professional audio, video and lighting products to businesses, bands and artists, contractors, houses of worship, live productions and more.
