Three from DAV

DI and re-amp boxes announced

Twickenham-based company DAV Electronics have just sent us news of three handy little boxes that are sure to find plenty of uses in the studio. First up is the High Impedance Instrument DI, a two-channel direct-injection box. The DI runs off phantom power from a mic preamp, and features two unbalanced jack inputs and two XLR outs. The input impedance is a healthy 1.6 megaohms, and the frequency response is quoted at 10Hz - 30kHz (±0.5dB).DAV DI box

Next up is the Re-amper, which is designed to take line-level signals from your recorder and feed them into a guitar amp (most commonly, this is done with DI'd guitar recordings, so you can change amp settings after the performance has been captured). There are two instrument-level jack outputs, and both a high- and low-level XLR input (with nominal operating levels of +18dBu and +4dBu, respectively). Once again, the frequency response given is 10Hz - 30kHz.

And finally, the Re-amper And DI is, as you might have guessed, a combination of the first two products. On the jack side, there’s an instrument-level input and an instrument-level output, while the opposite end houses a male XLR connector for sending the DI signal to a mic pre, and a female XLR for connecting the source you want to re-amp.

All of the units are nicely compact, at 55 x 90 x 112mm, and all carry the same recession-busting price tag of £100.
