Virtual Bouzouki

Spreading the Greek spirit
A company called Akki Plugs have released a sample library of the Bouzouki, the mandolin-like Greek stringed instrument. In total, there’s over 2GB of audio files in 24-bit format, as well as Kontakt 2 Player scripts that enable users to use the library as a software instrument without getting bogged down in sampler configuration.

A variety of different playing modes can be selected using keyswitches, so users can quickly flick to playing flageolet tones (harmonics) or glissandos, for example, as well as choosing whether to play down- or up-strokes. Various effects and processors can be applied within the Kontakt environment.

Virtual Bouzouki costs 229 Euros, which was £196 at the time of writing, and can be purchased from the Virtual Bouzouki web site.
