Allen & Heath have announced the launch of a new customisable MIDI controller designed to provide DJs and producers with comprehensive control over their software and hardware setups.
Sporting a total of 52 physical controls, the Xone:K3 provides a wealth of hands-on control in a convenient and compact format. Its faders, pots, encoders and backlit buttons can be organised into three fully independent user layers, with each map boasting up to 174 assignable MIDI parameters. Everything can be configured using the free Xone Controller Editor application, which provides users with the ability to assign MIDI CC or Note data, set RGB feedback colours and customise, save or share their mapping layouts.
The new controller has been built to stand up to life on the road, and comes housed in a rugged metal chassis with nutted pots and high-quality switches. USB-C and X:Link connectivity allow the K3 to be integrated with Allen & Heath’s Xone:96, PX5, 43C, and 23C. and support for star-topology USB setups mean that multiple K3 units to be connected and recognised as independent control surfaces.
As a class-compliant MIDI device, the K3 requires no drivers and works seamlessly with macOS, Windows, iOS and Android systems. Helpfully, the new arrival is also compatible with existing K1 and K2 mappings, offering a quick and easy solution for existing users looking to upgrade their setup.
