Allen & Heath update CQ firmware

Compact mixers gain DCAs, custom layers & more

Allen Heath CQ Firmware DCA mute groups custom faders layers effects section parametric EQ

Despite their compact footprint and modest cost, Allen & Heath’s CQ-series mixers pack in a serious set of pro-level features — we were certainly impressed when we checked out the CQ-18T in SOS October 2023. Now, with the release of CQ Firmware V1.2, the company have taken things a step further with the introduction of some user-requested capabilities.

With the latest firmware installed, CQ will enjoy four DCA groups that can be used to control the level of any combination of inputs, outputs and effects channels, while four mute groups make quick work of muting and unmuting multiple channels. The mixers have also gained a custom layer that allows users to assemble their own most-used collection of channels, which can of course include the new DCAs and mute groups. Last but not least, a two-band parametric EQ has been added to all of the effects processors.

“Since launch CQ has quickly become the smart choice for bands, engineers, venues, and AV installers looking for a small, easy-to-use mixer packed with our renowned processing and effects. For V1.2, we set out to incorporate the most commonly requested features from our fantastic digital community forums, with this user feedback driving a new level of control for CQ mixers.” - Keith Johnson, Senior Product Manager, Allen & Heath
