Audio college & studio unite
In an interesting move, London School of Sound (LSS) and Miloco, one of London’s busiest studios, have teamed up to offer an inticing package for budding audio engineers. LSS are holding a series of courses at Miloco that teach the ins and outs of recording drums, guitars and vocals, as well as pre-production and mixing.
But this isn’t your average engineering course; the person deemed to be the best qualified student will be offered the opportunity to join the Miloco staff, doing a month of work experience. Attendees can choose to take single courses, which cover single topics (subject to availability), although the work experience offer only applies to students taking all five.
The London School of Sound say that participants will get both practical and theory tuition, through involvement in the recording and mixing of professional musicians, with extra resources in the form of course notes available after the end of the workshop via the LSS website. The course is aimed at people who have some experience in the studio, such as music technology students or self-taught engineers.
The admission fee for all five courses, (The Recording & Mixing Workshop) is £895, while single sessions cost £239 each.
Here are the dates of the next courses:
Recording Drums — Saturday June 14
Recording Guitars — Sunday June 15
Recording Vocals — Friday June 20
Production & Mixing pt. 1 — Saturday June 21
Production & Mixing pt. 2 — Sunday June 22
Head to the courses and training page of the LSS web site for further details.
