Bricasti have unveiled new v2 software for their M7 reverb, as well as the new M7M Mainframe, a version of their high-end M7 reverb processor designed exclusively for use with the M10 remote. The Bricasti M7 was reviewed in SOS February 2008 and was complimented for providing “sumptuous reverb”, with one of the only criticisms being the lack of non-linear treatments.
The M7 v2 software introduces gated and reverse effects as well as some noisier reverb programmes, reminiscent of 1980s digital reverb units The M7M Mainframe has no front panel controls, and is designed to be installed in a recording studio 'machine room' rather than in the control room. A package including the M7M Mainframe and M10 remote is $4995, while a single mainframe costs around $3000. The v2 software upgrade will be free to all registered Bricasti M7 users.
