Some of you will be familiar with the Phoenix Audio Nicerizer 16, a 16-channel summing mixer that's been on the market for over a decade. At the AES show in New York, Phoenix Audio have unveiled a new summing mixer with a stripped-back feature set to make it more affordable.
The new box, called the Nicerizer Junior, retains the 16 inputs of the original with 16 Class-A discrete buffer amps. These are all available on rear D-Sub connections. Internally, each channel has its own custom-wound transformer output, which are all fed to the unit's four balanced XLR outputs.
Every channel has its own stepped, detented panning control for easy recall, and a +8dB boost switch.Intended to give analogue saturation to in-the-box mixes made on a DAW, the Nicerizer Junior is set to cost $2000/£1400 and should be shipping in a week or so.
