Phoenix Audio DRS-8 Mk2Phoenix Audio have just announced some good looking new gear. The first piece is a Mk2 revision of their DRS8 eight channel pre-amp which features several ease-of-use enhancements and claims improved noise performance. The second is the N90-DRC/500, a 500 series compressor which we got a look at back in October at AES. The unit is based on designs by David Rees, the designer of the famous Neve 2253 Limiter and 2254 Limiter/compressor. See the video here.

Press Release: Phoenix Audio is pleased to announce the DRS-8 Mk2, the ever popular multichannel pre-amp was first released in 2010 and now has some substantial improvements for 2013. The new version, now available, builds on the units excellent sonic character, colour and tone but with a new improved PSU board and power transformer offering greater power and much improved overall noise performance. The DRS-8 Mk2 has become more flexible by offering detented output channel pots for easier recall also we re-designed the preamp for greater ease of use during recoding by changing the HPF to 80hz from 120hz and replaced the 30db pad with a 15db pad.
The Phoenix DRS-8Mk2 was designed primarily for vocal and instrument recording and live applications where high quality standards are necessary and demanded by your clients. the DRS-8 is now finding a new home in broadcast applications as well.
