The latest sample library from The Very Loud Indeed Co. focuses on the type of tuned percussion sounds that are normally utilised for meditation and wellness music. The company say that BODHI: Zen Chimes is aimed mainly at media composers and those creating wellness music, and has been designed to complement their CHIMAERA: Mutated Pitched Percussion library.
The library's core sound is provided by a Quartzophone, an instrument made of crystal cylinders, which produces a warm and mellow sound that the company say is ideal for creating soothing and reflective moods. There are also two sets of chromatic wind chimes, with low- and high-pitched variants provided.
Three individual signals are provided for each sound source, allowing users to create their own instrument blend containing up to nine layers, with all three instruments offering simultaneously playable short notes and pads. Helpfully, it is possible to activate and deactivate instrument modules where necessary to conserve system resources. There are also 10 presets included that can serve as a starting point or template for new ideas.
BODHI: Zen Chimes utilises 176 audio files, which have been recorded at 24-bit / 48kHz, and are provided along with the library as WAV files that can be used directly in a DAW or another sampling platform.
Compatibility
BODHI: Zen Chimes runs in the full version of Native Instruments' Kontakt 6.7 or later (it will not run in the free Kontakt player), which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and there is also a standalone version. The library occupies 1GB of disk space.
