The Very Loud Indeed Co. have announced the launch of their latest product, which falls into their collection of Kontakt-based sample libraries. Named OBLIQUE III: Dark Violin Explorations, the long-awaited third instalment in the OBLIQUE series contains a selection of solo violin sounds aimed at thriller, dark drama and horror scores.
The library features violinist Ingrid Solano, whose performance is said to deliver haunting, tortured and emotionally damaged sounds. The company have captured an expansive dynamic range, covering everything from pianissimo super sul tasto to full-on fortissimo, and includes an interestingly named Despair control that promises to push sounds from from “a feeling of uneasiness all the way to the realm of terror”.
A total of 603 audio files have been used to create Dark Violin Explorations, and the instrument includes nine articulations: long sul tasto, staccato, a whole-step-downwards glissando, glissando harmonics, tremolo glissando harmonics, circular bowing, crunches, col legno fortissimo and body taps used as percussion elements.

Compatibility
OBLIQUE III: Dark Violin Explorations runs in the full version of Native Instruments’ Kontakt 6.8 or later (it will not work with the free Kontakt Player), which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or 11, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and above. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and there is also a standalone version. The library requires 2.9 GB of disk space.
