The Very Loud Indeed Co. have announced the launch of their latest sound set for Spectrasonics’ hugely popular Omnisphere software synthesizer. Omnisphere Snowfall includes 120 cinematic patches which have been built from 116 new sound sources that are exclusive to the release.
The release shares some common ground with the company’s previous Omnisphere packs, and promises to deliver organic, grimy-sounding tones. The company say that the patches are well suited to tension, dark drama and horror scoring, but will also sit happily in a wide range of other genres. Many of the sources used to create the pack have been processed to create small tuning fluctuations, tape degradation, tiny record noises, saturation and, in the case of longer sounds like pads and soundscapes, randomised evolutions over time.
As always, the company encourage users to experiment with the mod wheel on their controller keyboard, as the pack’s extensive use of the controller means that many patches can be seamlessly morphed between distinctively different sounds.
Compatibility
Omnisphere Snowfall is compatible with Spectrasonics’ Omnisphere 2.8 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 or higher. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available. The sound set requires 434.MB of disk space.
Pricing & Availability
Omnisphere Snowfall is available now, and is being offered at an introductory price of $19 (reduced from its full cost of $29) until 19 December 2024.
