Following the launch of the icons plug-in series earlier this year (read our coverage here), CEDAR Audio have added two new processors to the range: Auto Dehiss and Debuzz. Both are derived from the company’s long-established Studio series, but have been redesigned with streamlined interfaces intended to make them quicker and easier to use.
Auto Dehiss offers broadband noise removal in real time, tackling tape hiss and similar issues without the artefacts often associated with conventional hiss removal. It includes both an automatic mode and a manual option for fine-tuning. Debuzz is designed to eliminate hums and buzzes with fundamentals up to 500Hz, tracking drifting tones and removing harmonics across the spectrum without the hollowing effect of traditional comb filters.
The company says the new tools are suited to tasks from mixing and mastering to broadcast, archiving and post-production.
They run as AAX, AU and VST3 plug-ins on Mac and Windows, authorised via iLok. CEDAR Studio versions of the processors have now been discontinued, though existing licences remain valid and can be used with the new plug-ins at no extra cost. Free 14-day trial versions are also available.
