The latest addition to the Cherry Audio line-up offers a new and improved version of GG Audio’s popular tonewheel organ emulation. Created using modelling rather than sampling, Blue3 offers detailed recreations of six different classic Hammond instruments.
Continuing the legacy established by the original developer, Blue3 painstakingly simulates every feature and circuit of the original instruments, and promises to deliver an authentic recreation of Hammond’s B-3, C-3, A-100, L-100, CV and M-3 models. A total of 31 tonewheel sets comprise 91 modelled tonewheels, and the instrument also includes a realistic-sounding scanner vibrato and chorus effect.
It boasts full polyphony for the upper and lower keyboard sections and pedals with a customisable keyboard split function, and includes a number of useful drawbar parameters such as Copy, Swap, Reset and Randomize, as well as sporting a newly designed user interface includes dedicated Main, Edit, Cabinet and Perform sections. It also goes beyond the capabilities of the original instrument thanks to new tape delay, spring, hall and plate reverbs and a seven-band graphic EQ.
The instrument’s Cabinet section provides users with a choice of six different speakers — Classic 122, 147, RA-200, 4x12 guitar amp, custom rotary and direct — as well as adjustable rotary speed with acceleration and deceleration controls. Other settings include Diffuser, Front Stop, Memphis and Wind for the rotary speaker, and there’s a visual microphone simulation section that includes spread and distance controls, four mic choices with a click-and-drag placement interface.
