Overloud have announced the launch of two more amp simulation packs in their Made In Rock series. PFL 100 and B‑SAB continue the trend of capturing the amps that shaped rock history, emulating the rigs of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi.
PFL 100
PFL 100 meticulously captures Gilmour’s HIWATT 100 DR103, the amplifier that was famously used on the 1977 ‘Animals’ album. The head is paired with a matched 4x12 Wem Starfinder cabinet loaded with Fane Crecendo drivers. Overloud say that the use of their Fluid Convolution technology means that every tonal nuance has been precisely captured, with users benefitting from features such as moving microphones in a 3D space around the cabinet and blending their output with custom impulse responses.
As well as modelling the amp itself, the pack also includes additional content that emulates a number of overdrive, modulation and reverbs effects, along with the legendary Binson Echorec delay. It also includes a bank of presets inspired by iconic Pink Floyd tracks.
B-SAB
The second of the new packs models Tony Iommi’s Laney Supergroup head, which is paired with a Celestion G12H-equipped 4x12 Supergroup cabinet from 1971. The model is said to faithfully reproduce the amp’s dual-channel setup, which allows the Bass and Treble channels to be mixed together to cover a wide range of tones that span from searing highs to thick, distorted lows. Again, the pack also includes a collection of overdrives and reverb effects, and comes complete with a selection of Sabbath-inspired presets.
