Fiedler Audio have announced that a public beta is now available for Spacelab 1.5, an update which allows their 3D reverb plug-in to integrate seamlessly with their recently released Dolby Atmos Composer plug-in package.
Spacelab and Dolby Atmos Composer were both significant releases, as they allow users of any DAW — even those without native surround or immersive support — to work in the Dolby Atmos format. With the release of version 1.5, both Spacelab Interstellar and Spacelab Ignition can now be setup for use with Dolby Atmos Composer with a single click, allowing users to employ the reverb plug-in on their immersive mixes without the need to manually setup any complex routing.
Both versions benefit from features such as a reworked Binauraliser algorithm, which promises to deliver improved 3D panning for headphone users, as well as offering two additional virtual spaces to help users find the best possible response for binaural monitoring and production. An LFE Handling feature ensures that LFE content is handled properly when being passed through to the output speaker layout, and a built-in layout editor also allows users to freely assign LFE content manually if required.
A Mono Switch function has been added to address the stereo separation that is forced by DAWs such as Ableton Live, Reaper and Bitwig, and a Beam Manual Delay Compensation feature has been enabled for all DAWs, allowing for manual compensation for latency issues caused by bugs that have reported by users of some versions of Logic Pro X and Pro Tools. Users of Spacelab Interstellar are now able to automate the source parameters of each track with an instance of the company’s Beam plug-in inserted.
Compatibility
Spacelab is supported on PCs running systems running Windows 7 through 11, and Macs running macOS versions 10.12 to 12. As of the 1.5 update, all versions of Spacelab are natively compatible with Apple Silicon processors. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
