FKFX have announced the launch of Obvious Filter 2, or OF2, the latest version of their creative filter plug-in. Building on the success of its predecessor, the latest addition to the company’s range introduces a whole host of new tools designed to provide users with in-depth hands-on control.
OF2 comes loaded with over 5800 factory presets, a powerful morphing editor and extensive MIDI integration that includes groove import, modulation, MIDI send, preset switching and more. The interface has been redesigned for enhanced speed, precision and creative freedom, and includes new zooming and history tracking features along with an interactive help system and a built-in visualiser display.

Here’s a breakdown of the new features that have been introduced in the latest version:
- Real-time Control: Time-based re-shaping of audio including reverse and rhythmic offset.
- MIDISHOT: Trigger filtering via MIDI for both side-chain and synth-style effects.
- Freeze Zone: Isolate and hold specific sections of the morph sequence.
- Zoom: Enhanced editor navigation with zoom functionality.
- Two New Pencil Tools: Attack and Decay shapes for intuitive envelope drawing.
- Undo/Redo: Onboard history system within the GUI.
- Chaos Autopilot: Random morph modulation with user control.
- Sylab Vowel Filter: Formant filter for vowel-like tone shaping.
- Diode Distortion: Analogue-style distortion via diode saturation.
- MIDI Groove Import: Use external MIDI files to shape groove and timing.
- MIDI Out: Send modulation as MIDI to other instruments.
- MIDI Preset Load: Load presets via MIDI program change or notes.
Compatibility
Obvious Filter 2 is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 11 and above. VST, VST3 and AU plug-in versions are available.
Pricing & Availability
Obvious Filter 2 is available now, and is currently (14 July 2025) being offered at an introductory price of $59, reduced from its full cost of $89. Those who own Obvious Filter 1 are eligible for a free upgrade. The company have also launched Obvious Filter 2 Lite, a scaled-down version that’s available as a free download.
