GForce update Oberheim SEM soft synth

Soft synth gets a GUI overhaul

Gforce Software SEM v1.6 Oberheim Synthesizer Expander Module recreation emulation plug-in

GForce Software have announced an update to their Oberheim SEM software instrument, an officially endorsed recreation of the hardware instrument of the same name which was released in 2022 in celebration of Tom Oberheim’s birthday.

As well as painstakingly recreating the unmistakable sound of the original instrument, GForce’s emulation also promises to capture the ethos of its hardware equivalent: a simple monophonic synth that makes it possible to create incredible sounds in an instant. Users can be confident in its authenticity, with the legendary synth designer giving it his seal of approval and officially endorsing it along with a number of the company’s other recreations. Now, with the release of v1.6 the plug-in’s GUI has been overhauled, offering an improved user experience that the company say will give users the feeling of having a real SEM in front of them.

Compatibility

Oberheim SEM v1.6 is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.13 and higher. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available, and there is also a standalone application.

Pricing & Availability

Oberheim SEM v1.6 is available now as a free update for existing users. Those wishing to purchase the instrument can currently take an advantage of a discounted price of £29.99 (usually £49.99) excluding VAT, which will be available until the end of October 2023.
