Long-awaited virtual drummer software hits the shops
In September 2006, shortly before they released Cubase 4, Steinberg announced Groove Agent 3, the latest version of their acclaimed virtual drummer software. The company have now announced that the software is shipping, a whole year later than planned!
But by the looks of things, it's worth the wait. Groove Agent 3 features two new player modules: Special Agent and Percussion Agent, which are designed to sound like human studio drummers and percussionists respectively. Either of the two new agents can be used alongside the standard Groove Agent, using the virtual instrument's new dual mode.
Percussion Agent has eight outputs, enabling eight different patterns to be played on instruments such as bongos, congas and claves, and the plug-in has 10 stereo outputs, so you can send each of those outputs to separate channels in your DAW software for processing!
Steinberg have put a lot of effort into the new version, paying particular attention to the improvement of the plug-in's realism. Groove Agent 3’s Alternating Hits function automatically switches between samples to avoid repetition, while a function called Auto Fill automatically generates fills like a real drummer would.
Groove Agent 3 is available now, at a cost of £170.
