Steinberg’s live performance software platform has just been treated to a major update that adds an array of new creative tools and enhances many of its existing features. VST Live 3 adds real-time video processing, improved DMX control, a new monitor mixer and a range of other new features which the company say will help users deliver even better, more memorable live performances.
One of the headline features is the introduction of real-time video support, with VST Live now boasting a Video Director function that’s capable of processing as many real-time or playback video sources as the host system’s resources can handle. Live video is enhanced further thanks to integration with the ever-popular OBS software, allowing VST Live to carry out tasks such as pre-programmed video source switching.
On the audio side of things, the software has gained a new Monitor Mixer that can be used to set up stage wedge or IEM mixes, while independent Chord and Lyric tracks make it possible to configure dedicated displays for different performers. Lighting capabilities have been improved, too, with DMX control now accessible directly from the mixer page, with dedicated faders for intensity, mute and solo.
Other improvements include input channels now being visible in the mixer, enhanced in-app help and multi-language support, and the ability to use module instances throughout a project without needing to load them for each song. VST Live 3 also includes Steinberg’s powerful Flux and Trip VST synths, as well as the Groove Agent SE VST drum plug-in.
The latest version of VST Live introduces real-time video support, along with a whole host of improvements and enhancements to its existing feature set.
