Harrison release 32Classic MS channel strip

Versatile vintage-inspired audio processor

Harrison 32 Classic MS

Harrison Audio have released the 32Classic MS Mix Strip. This 1U, 19-inch rackmount channel strip brings the iconic sound of the Harrison 3232 and 32Classic (reviewed in SOS Dec 2023) recording consoles into a compact format.

The 32Classic MS features a Jensen JT-MB-CPCA transformer-coupled microphone preamp, delivering up to 70 dB of clean gain and signature Harrison tone, with a full low-end, open midrange and smooth highs. This vintage-inspired input stage includes a tri-color LED meter and independent gain controls for the mic and line inputs, alongside utilities like phantom power, a -20 dB pad, phase flip and a front-panel Hi-Z instrument input.

The unit features Harrison's 4-band parametric EQ and 12 dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters.The unit features Harrison's 4-band parametric EQ and 12 dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters.

The 32Classic MS also integrates Harrison’s legendary 4-band parametric EQ, known for its proportional Q design as used by mixing icons like Bruce Swedien and Roger Nichols. Paired with the unit’s 12 dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters, which include a 3 dB resonant peak, Harrison say their 32Classic MS delivers precise control for shaping sound without harshness or brittleness.

Harrison have also equipped the 32Classic MS with a summing bus, allowing users to link multiple units via rear-panel connectors for expanded mixing workflows. Outputs can be balanced using fader and pan controls or bypassed to unity gain for seamless integration into hybrid setups. This modular design enables studios to build custom Harrison stereo summing mixers or sidecar systems, ideally suited for use as drum buses, instrument groups or adding the signature Harrison character to any mix.

The 32Classic MS is said to carry the legacy of albums created on Harrison consoles by artists such as Michael Jackson, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, and Steely Dan, offering a timeless sound in a compact and versatile format.
