Songwriting software & USB Audio Interface
An update to Cakewalk’s Guitar Tracks Pro software has been announced. Version 4 of the software, which is aimed at guitar players and songwriters, has been refined to enable users to create backing tracks more quickly and easily than ever before. New features include a streamlined multitrack recorder interface, functions for creating notation and tablature scores, and a suite of studio effects from Sonar, Cakewalk’s flagship DAW application.
Over 2GB of audio loops and samples are bundled with Guitar Tracks Pro 4, and there’s also an expansive library of MIDI patterns that can be used to control built-in virtual drums, bass and piano instruments. Incoming guitar signals can be processed using Guitar Rig LE, which comes with the application, and vocals can be recorded on top of the backing tracks, for creating demos and suchlike.
Guitar Tracks Pro 4 comes with a selection of instructional videos that feature big names including Joe Bonamassa and Dave Mustaine giving advice on all things guitar-related, and some of the supplied drum loops were played by world-class drummers such as John Blackwell and Danny Gottlieb. What’s more, the Cakewalk Publisher utility allows material created in the application to be uploaded directly to the web. The software costs £89/$99 by itself, but a package that also includes the new Cakewalk UA1G audio interface that’s ‘optimised’ for guitars, costs £129/$149.
