Shure SRH series

Studio headphone trio
Shure have made their first foray into the studio headphone market with the launch of their SRH series. There are three models in the range: the SRH240 (£70), the SRH440 (£130) and the SRH840 (£140). All three have closed-back earcups for use in recording applications, but they vary in terms of sound reproduction and build quality.

Starting at the bottom of the range, the SRH240 is designed for general listening duties. Its cable splits to terminate in each earcup, and it has an adjustable headband.

The SRH440, on the other hand, has a detachable, single-sided cable and has a frequency response that the manufacturers say provides accurate monitoring over an extended range of frequencies. Its ear cups fold up so it can be collapsed into a carrying bag for easy and safe transportation.

The flagship model, the SRH840 (pictured), has a “precisely tailored frequency response” with “rich bass, clear mids and extended highs”. It’s designed for use over long periods of time and as such has a well padded headband and ear pads. Like the SRH440, it has a removable, single-sided cable and can be collapsed for transportation. All three models in the SRH series will be shipping in the coming months.
