The latest version of Akai Pro’s compact MIDI keyboard has just arrived, and has been treated to a significant design overhaul that the company say make it the perfect companion for everyone from bedroom beatmakers to touring professionals.
As part of the redesign, the MPK Mini IV has been kitted out with a newly developed keybed, while its velocity-sensitive MPC pads promise to deliver an even more responsive feel. Another significant feature is the inclusion of real pitch and mod wheels, a move which the company say is unique for a controller of this size and cost. The upgrades aren’t limited to the hardware side of things, either: the controller now comes bundled with the Studio Instrument Collection, a virtual instrument bundle that includes over 1000 sounds powered by software from Akai Pro, Moog and AIR.
