Roland have announced several new products and updates across hardware and software, led by the launch of GO:MIXER STUDIO, a portable audio mixer and recording interface designed for performance video creation and mobile production. The company also revealed the CR-78 Software Rhythm Composer, an update to the BOSS Effects Pedals plug-in, and the upcoming release of ZENOLOGY GX for iPad.
GO:MIXER STUDIO
GO:MIXER STUDIO is a compact, studio-grade mixer and audio interface for iPhone, iPad and macOS/Windows systems, offering 12 input channels and six outputs in a portable form factor. It supports recording at up to 24-bit/192 kHz and includes 16 scene memories for storing complete mixer setups. The unit is designed to capture audio from multiple sources simultaneously, making it suitable for music performance, video production, and mobile recording workflows.
The mixer includes two XLR mic/line inputs with wide-range mic preamps, a dedicated guitar/bass input, stereo quarter-inch inputs for instruments such as keyboards or electronic drums, and an auxiliary stereo input with TRRS support for bidirectional audio with mobile devices. Monitoring options include both quarter-inch and mini headphone outputs, with the mini jack also supporting headsets and inline microphones. Two quarter-inch line outputs are provided for connection to external speakers or PA systems, with level control available directly from the front panel.
GO:MIXER STUDIO also features onboard processing, including three-band EQ, compression, and reverb modelled on studio processors. These effects can be applied during recording or used solely for monitoring. Power can be supplied via a connected mobile device or computer, an external adaptor, or a USB battery, with separate USB-C ports for device connection and power. Roland’s GO:MIXER Cam app for iOS allows multitrack audio to be recorded directly alongside video, while the GO:MIXER Editor for macOS and Windows provides full parameter access and session management on a larger screen.
CR-78 Software Rhythm Composer
Alongside the hardware announcement, Roland introduced the CR-78 Software Rhythm Composer for Roland Cloud. Based on the original CR-78 CompuRhythm from 1978, the software uses Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology to recreate the sound of the vintage drum machine while adding modern features such as DAW sync, drag-and-drop audio and MIDI, expanded pattern editing, and detailed mixing controls. Users can switch between visual skins reflecting different versions of the original hardware.
BOSS Effects Pedals Plug-ins
Roland also released an update to the BOSS Effects Pedals plug-in on Roland Cloud, expanding the library from 16 to 19 models. The update adds the DM-2 Delay, OD-2 Turbo OverDrive, and DC-2 Dimension C, all modelled on their original compact pedal counterparts. The plug-in delivers software recreations of classic BOSS compact pedals for use in DAW-based production environments.
ZENOLOGY GX for iPad
Rounding out the announcements, Roland confirmed the upcoming release of ZENOLOGY GX for iPad, marking the company’s first flagship standalone instrument designed specifically for Apple iPad. Based on the ZEN-Core Synthesis System, ZENOLOGY GX for iPad delivers the same core feature set as the recently released desktop version, combining a large library of Roland sounds with a high-definition interface, advanced sound browser, and integrated creative tools, all running natively on iPadOS.
