Noiseworks Audio have recently released a powerful new AI-assisted vocal and dialogue tool that builds on what audio professionals value most about their acclaimed DynAssist plug-in. Designed to reduce the time spent on cleaning up vocal and dialogue tracks while keeping engineers fully in control of the final result, VoiceAssist combines six intelligent voice-focused processes into a single ARA-capable plug-in, and promises to a faster, more integrated approach to vocal and dialogue editing.
Six Processors
VoiceAssist is built around the following six dedicated processing sections:
- Clean: AI-driven de-noising, de-reverberation, and frequency repair to remove unwanted noise while restoring lost detail.
- Lowend: Low-frequency recovery, resonance reduction, and flexible low-cut filtering for clearer, more controlled vocals.
- Gate: Intelligent voice-aware gating that detects pauses without clipping words or syllables.
- Dynamics: Advanced volume riding and loudness matching for natural, consistent vocal levels.
- Breath: Transparent breath detection and reduction that preserves realism.
- Sibilance: Precise control of harsh consonants without dulling the overall tone.
Developed with input from leading mix engineers and post-production professionals, the latest offering allows users to edit and refine voice recordings directly inside their DAW — and also comes available a standalone application — applying advanced processing only where its needed and, importantly, with full transparency.
The Clean section is dedicated to removing unwanted reverb and background noise, and is even said to be capable of tackling issues caused by poor mic placement. Everything is processed locally by NoiseWorks Audio’s AI model rather than relying on cloud-based systems. Dynamics and Gate sections then offer detailed dynamic control with built-in LUFS-I and LUFS-S tools, while Lowend is capable of filtering out unwanted low-frequency content, or reintroducing some if it’s missing! Breaths and Sibilance sections then offer in-depth control over, you guessed it: breath noise and sibilance.
Compatibility
VoiceAssist is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 12 and above. VST3, AU AAX plug-in versions are available. ARA support is currently available for Pro Tools (2024.10 and above), Cubase, Nuendo, Reaper and Studio One — LUNA will be added in a future update. The software is also available as a standalone application.
