Papritech launch AirMotion

MIDI breath and motion controller

Papritech AirMotion MIDI breath motion controller woodwind brass instruments

Papritech have announced the launch of AirMotion, a new MIDI controller that combines breath and motion control into a single device. The unit is capable of sending up to five simultaneous MIDI CC messages generated from a player’s breath and movement to an instrument or DAW, allowing for hands-free expressive control over a range of instrument parameters.

AirMotion features a breath controller mounted on a flexible metal tube, allowing it to be worn around the neck with the mouthpiece held in position in front of the player’s mouth. In addition to the breath controller module, the unit is also able to detect movement, and can be programmed to generate MIDI CC information based on the player’s head moving up, down, left, or right.

The device connects to an Android mobile application (the company are currently working on an iOS version), where users are able to assign their chosen CC numbers to each of the five possible inputs, and have the resulting data wirelessly transmitted to their instrument or DAW via a BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) connection.

Take a look at the video below to see and hear AirMotion in action.

AirMotion can be powered via a standard USB power adapter or power bank.
