Features 188 new sound sources

The Very Loud Indeed Co Omnisphere Cobalt

Sound-design specialists The Very Loud Indeed Co. have announced the launch of their latest expansion for  Spectrasonics' Omnisphere 2.8 software synthesizer. Omnisphere Cobalt delivers a collection of 120 new cinematic patches, all of which have been created using a set of 188 new sound sources that were recorded specifically for the release — the pack doesn’t reuse any of Omnisphere’s stock sounds, and doesn’t share any content with the company’s previous offerings.

The Very Loud Indeed Co.’s founder and sound designer Richie Nieto says: “With Cobalt, we took a different approach for crafting its patches. Instead of using recordings of real instruments or objects, we designed a large number of sounds using a variety of synthesizers. Then we recorded those sounds, ran them through a crazy array of weird processors, and finally we used them as raw sources in Omnisphere. The result is a collection of patches that sound organic, but have a non-organic origin, which gives them a very unique character.”

Compatibility

Omnisphere Cobalt is compatible with Spectrasonics’ Omnisphere 2.8 or later, which is supported on PCs running Windows 7 and above, and Macs running macOS 11 or higher. VST2, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.. The sound set requires 378 MB of disk space.

Pricing & Availability

Omnisphere Cobalt is available now, and until 3 July 2025, is being offered at an introductory price of $19, reduced from its full cost of $29.
