Universal Audio have announced that their software recreation of Dolby’s renowned multiband enhancer — which was launched in May 2025 exclusively for Apollo and UAD DSP systems — is now available as a native plug-in.
A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer offers an authentic emulation of the multiband ‘compansion’ processor that was originally used to reduce tape hiss in professional multitrack studios, before eventually being employed as an effect on iconic pop and rock recordings due its ability to add clarity and presence to vocals. Previously only available for users of UA’s Apollo and UAD hardware, this powerful multiband processor can now be used in any DAW, on any system, and has been added to the company’s UAD Spark subscription bundle.

Compatibility
A-Type Multiband Dynamic Enhancer is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or higher, and Macs running macOS 10.15 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
