Plasma is the first offering in iZotope’s new Catalyst series, a range of easy-to use plug-ins designed to quickly solve difficult mix problems and help users keep their focus on the creative side of their work. Using a new technology that the company refer to as Flux Saturation, the processor analyses incoming signals and applies dynamic processing that promises to add warmth, depth and character.
Designed for use on individual sources as well as busses or entire mixes, Plasma features a collection of 24 Target Profiles that can be used to influence its processing. There are settings for everything from sources such as vocals and drums to full mixes, and it’s possible to fine-tune the results using Attack and Release parameters, as well as an Overdrive fader that governs the overall amount of saturation applied.
A selection of Channel Modes allow users to tailor the processing applied to different elements of their mix — it’s possible to shape the attack and sustain elements of a sound, for example, or apply processing to just the Mid or Sides signals. The plug-in’s visualiser display also features a pair of Frequency Handles that facilitate multi-band processing, offering independent saturation settings for high, midrange and low-frequency sounds.

Plasma is supported on PCs running Windows 10 and higher, and Macs running macOS 13.6.9 or later. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
